1. Installation Failed To Start Because Another Update Installation Is In Progress Windows 7

After three days of starting to install VS 2013 on my Windows 7 64-Bit machine, I finally succeeded in completing the setup. I did a few things from intuition, and also reading a few articles. I downloaded the Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate ISO (I didn't want any version less that - what was the point?) and that was what I was using for the install. Even registry entries like removing the InProgress Registry Key did not help as that did not exist on my Windows 7 machine. NOTE: This may not work for everyone, just my unique situation, just writing my report and giving back!

Hopefully it might help someone in the same boat. I had like over 20 failed updates in my Windows Update History which I did not realise, until VS 2013 installation failed! Now what a nightmare will this journey be, to clean this up, time I don't really have, so it was time to find a short-cut. After reading several articles I then had a light-bulb moment about the.NET Framework Cleanup Tool as I noticed a lot of.NET 4.0 Framework failures in my Windows Update History. I re-stared my machine and re-stared the VS 2013 installation once more, the installation this time went past the half mark progress bar:):) I thought hmm, I must be unto something here, fingers-crossed. Finally I had the message [Setup Completed], but not without Web Deploy errors (Microsoft Web Deploy Package failed.), hooray! I think after three days of banging my head against the wall, this was good enough for me for now. I will deal with the Web Deploy error later, as I didn't need that feature/functionality immediately.

There was the BIG white label on the completed installation flash page that said 'Launch', that was my first experience with VS 2013 IDE. About the error message, first i suggest you update your OS to latest. And do you know what is the progress? Do you used ISO file to install VS 2013. I suggest you download ISO file from microsoft's website.
